In primary school, teachers and students are supported by the learning support teachers and teachers’ aides during literacy and numeracy lessons. The role of the support teacher/aide is to assist students to understand concepts being taught in the classroom. They support students through one on one and small group activities.
In senior school, learning support teachers work with the classroom teacher to support the development of literacy skills through a team teaching approach. This support occurs during English and Mathematics sessions, as well as across other key learning areas. Students are also supported in developing their numeracy skills through small group intervention.
