Sport across K-6

Sport is a significant part of primary school life. Sports helps children to develop physically, socially and mentally, allowing them to develop strategies to better deal with the demands of school life, by:

  • developing co-ordination and gross motor skills
  • building self-confidence and self-esteem
  • developing positive attitudes
  • building resilience
  • encouraging teamwork and cohesion
  • supporting discipline
  • reducing the risk of obesity
  • promoting healthy bone and muscle development

SPORTIT Australia

Athletics

SPORTIT’s school Athletics program provides all students with an opportunity to learn the skills needed to actively participate in their next school Athletics carnival. The SPORTIT team teach students the skills needed to actively engage in baton relay, discus, shot-put, long jump, high jump (scissor kick), hurdles, short & middle distance running. During Term 1, students across years 3-6 participated in the SPORTIT’s Athletics program and developed their athletics skills, hand-eye coordination skills and team building skills.

Gymnastics

SPORTIT’s Gymnastics programs are run by fully screened & accredited NSW PE teachers and aim to deliver & teach over 100 Gymnastics & Fundamental Movement skill activities. SPORTIT’s Gymnastics program provides a highly motivational environment where strength, speed, agility, balance, fine and gross motor coordination, cooperative skills and self-discipline are all incorporated. Students across years K-6 will participate in the SPORTIT’s Gymnastics program.
