Question: Who is the owner of Bellfield College?
Answer: Bellfield College is owned by Bellfield Group Ltd. This is a not for profit public company limited by guarantee. The company is governed by the rules and regulations of the Australian securities and Investments Commission.
Question: Are there any shareholders?
Answer: No. As the company is not for profit, there are no shareholders. Bellfield Group is managed by an elected board. Their role is to ensure that Bellfield College is managed and sustained to a high standard.
Question: What happens to the profit generated by the College?
Answer: Bellfield College is a project totaling AUD$35 million. All income received will be directed toward the day to day operations of the school and developing and upgrading infrastructure and resources. If any surplus funds are available, it is stipulated in our constitution that those funds are to be used for educational purposes only.
Question: Why Liverpool?
Answer: The Liverpool region has experienced enormous growth over the last decade. This has resulted in the establishment of a large Shia community comprising of over 400 families. Therefore there is a need for the development of facilities to cater for the community in this region.
Furthermore, it is easily accessible for the rest of the Sydney Shia community, both by the M5, M7 and a short drive from the Campbelltown and Bankstown regions. Liverpool is possibly the last frontier of Sydney in terms of land availability and affordability.
Question: Will there be a school bus to transport the children to and from the College?
Answer: Transport for students wll be available. This will not be owned and operated by the College. The transport will be offered by private contractors. This service will incur an additional fee as it is not covered by the school fees.
The College is also in the process of introducing families that live in close proximity to one another so that they can work together to form a car pooling system.
An excellent public transport system is also available for high school students.
Question: How was the school fees formuated?
Answer: The fees have been carefully considered in order to ensure that quality education is affordable without compromising on quality. Lower fees result in less resources and sub standard facilities for students.
Question: Does the Australian Government assist the College with funding ?
Answer: Yes, Government grants are available but are minimal. For example, a public school receives $10,500 / student in funding form the federal government. Private independent schools are only able to receive from $2,500 based on the demographics of the student, the rest of the funds are to be privately sourced by the College.
